15 NYCHA Residents Graduated From Construction Training
On June 18, 2021, 15 residents graduated from the NYCHA Resident Training Academy (NRTA) with a specialization in construction. The trainees completed eight weeks of hybrid remote instruction and hands-on training at the New York City College of Technology’s Business and Industry Workforce Training Center. All graduates learned skills and obtained certifications to connect them to entry-level employment and apprenticeships in the construction industry. The NRTA, funded by Robin Hood and in cooperation with NYCHA’s Office of Resident Economic Empowerment & Sustainability (REES), provides employment-linked training opportunities for NYCHA residents in various fields, including construction. Graduates receive employment referrals for up to one year.
