NYCHA Celebrates National Night Out
Since 1984, police precincts around the country have hosted National Night Out in partnership with community members to help foster stronger neighborly ties and promote safer neighborhoods.
On August 5, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) hosted events at more than 70 locations. Each of the nine Police Service Areas (PSA) serving NYCHA developments in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens hosted events at or near NYCHA developments.
NYCHA CEO Lisa Bova-Hiatt attended the festivities at Vladeck Houses in Manhattan, where she presented a proclamation to PSA 4 police officers. Chief Operating Officer Eva Trimble attended events hosted by PSA 7 at Forest Houses and PSA 8 near Monroe Houses in the Bronx to recognize their efforts in service to the community. Additionally, staff from NYCHA’s Public Safety and Resident Services Partnerships, and Initiatives offices participated in all of the celebrations.

Many elected officials attended events in their constituent communities, including Congressman Dan Goldman, State Senator Brian Kavanagh, Assemblymember Grace Lee, NYC Comptroller Brad Lander, City Council Member Carlina Rivera, and City Council Member Gale Brewer.
NYCHA residents of all ages enjoyed entertainment, dancing, food and refreshments, bounce houses, and a chance to meet with officers from their local police precinct and learn more about safety resources – National Night Out was a night of fun, and also an annual reminder of the importance of working together for public safety.
