Art Competition for NYCHA Residents
Attention NYCHA residents: You have the opportunity to have your original artwork appear on the inaugural membership card for the National Public Housing Museum in Chicago, a new museum dedicated to telling the story of public housing in the United States, by entering an art competition especially for NYCHA residents.
Between July 2 and July 15, current NYCHA residents 18 years or older can enter the competition by submitting original artwork that reflects the theme of community and public housing. Digital submission is required at tinyurl.com/NPHMArtCompetition. The winning artwork will be featured on a limited-edition digital museum membership card.
The art competition is hosted by the Public Housing Community Fund, in partnership with NYCHA’s Office of Public-Private Partnerships and the National Public Housing Museum (NPHM).
A distinguished panel will judge the entries and choose a grand prize winner and three runners-up. The grand prize winner will receive two roundtrip tickets on JetBlue that they can use to travel anywhere and two nights hotel accommodations in Chicago should they wish to come to the grand opening to visit the National Public Housing Museum at the end of September. Three runners-up will also have the chance to work with the NPHM to sell their artwork in the museum’s cooperative store for one year and receive proceeds and profits from these sales.
Additionally, the NPHM is offering NYCHA residents free museum memberships. Members will have access to digital content rich with stories and interactive features and other benefits.
