NYCHA’s New Digital Signage Pilot at Polo Grounds Towers
NYCHA recently launched a Digital Signage Pilot at Polo Grounds Towers in Manhattan to expand communications to residents, providing them with an additional, convenient platform to learn about NYCHA news, outages in their building, work being done on the grounds, capital projects underway, important health and safety information, and available activities and programs.
The first digital monitors have been installed and the remaining buildings at the development will receive monitors soon. The monitors – mounted in custom enclosures to prevent theft and damage – are being installed in the lobbies, a convenient location for residents to view the information as they enter and exit their building. The content will be generated and managed by NYCHA’s Department of Communications and the development’s Property Management Office and Resident Association President.
This pilot will help determine the best technology and placement of the monitors, as well as the quality and timing of content. One of the most important aspects of the pilot is resident feedback: NYCHA’s Resident Engagement team will visit residents to collect feedback, suggestions, and answer questions. Resident comments will help improve the project and guide the Authority as it develops a plan to bring digital signage to all NYCHA developments.
