Juneteenth Celebrations at NYCHA Farms

On June 15, Green City Force (GCF) held its annual Juneteenth celebration at the six Eco-Hub farm sites at Astoria, Bay View, Forest, Howard, Mariner’s Harbor, and Wagner Houses. The event also launched the farmstand season, which lasts from June to November and allows NYCHA residents to receive organic produce grown at their developments in exchange for volunteering or dropping off their household compost. In addition to distribution of organic produce grown by GCF Corps Members and food tastings, this year’s activities included arts and crafts, jump rope, mural painting, and games.
