LaGuardia Houses Addition Celebrates Lunar New Year 

On February 21, NYCHA’s Family Partnerships Department’s Elderly Safe-at-Home program hosted its second annual Lunar New Year celebration at LaGuardia Houses Addition, a development for seniors where a large majority of residents are ethnically Chinese.  

As part of the Year of the Snake festivities, which were supported by NYCHA’s Chinese-American Association, residents were treated to a Chinese pipa (Chinese lute) performance by Zhou Yi. 

Residents also enjoyed food and refreshments, including Chinese buns, sponge cakes, and egg custard tarts, and attendees shared stories about the holiday and their favorite foods. Thanks to a raffle, several residents took home red envelope prizes.
