Long Island Nets Provide Thanksgiving Dinner for NYCHA Families
The Long Island Nets are playing their home games at the Barclays Center this season, and they wanted to give something back to the community that supports them. A minor league basketball organization affiliated with the Brooklyn Nets, the team partnered with the 1525 Albany Avenue Key Food to provide 20 families from 14 different NYCHA developments with Thanksgiving groceries. Key Food donated a gift card to use for the event, and the players shopped and packed bags. In addition to the groceries, each family was given four tickets to the team’s first two home games at Barclays, making it a Thanksgiving to remember.
