Mayor Adams Meets with NYCHA Staff in First Visit to Emergency Operations Center
Mayor Eric Adams visited NYCHA’s Emergency Operations Center in Long Island City on March 1 to get updates on heating systems and various infrastructure needs across the Authority.
In his first visit to the emergency center since taking office, the Mayor met with NYCHA leaders and operations staff, including Chair and Chief Executive Officer Greg Russ, Chief Operating Officer Daniel Sherrod, and Director of the Heating Management Services Department Javier Almodovar.
Addressing NYCHA’s challenges and opportunities, Authority leaders discussed the need for significant capital investments as they seek to make improvements for the future. The conversation focused on efforts to resolve heating and hot water issues with upgrades to heating and electrical systems throughout the portfolio as well as initiatives related to sustainability.
The Mayor’s Chief Technology Officer Matt Fraser was also in attendance to explore opportunities to improve NYCHA’s technology programs.
