New Online Pest Control Resource for Residents

NYCHA’s new Pest Control webpage is a one-stop online resource for residents to learn important information about the way NYCHA is handling pests. It features an explanation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), the industry gold standard for pest control. IPM means that exterminators spend more time inside apartments to look for and eliminate the root causes of pests, such as leaks, holes, or food, and will only use pesticides when signs of pests are present. By getting to the source of the problem, pests will get into apartments less often and NYCHA exterminators can use less pesticides.

The webpage also features other resources, including how residents should prepare for extermination appointments, tips on how residents can help keep their homes pest free, information about the Neighborhood Rat Reduction program, and a list of all pesticide products NYCHA exterminators may use in apartments. Clicking on the name of each pesticide will bring up a photo of the label that lists the product’s ingredients, directions, and safety information.
