NYCHA Community Centers Open Late
School’s out and kids across the City are enjoying the long days of summer break. There’s more summer fun to be had at NYCHA’s community centers: from now until August 31, 119 centers will be open late so that young New Yorkers have a safe place to learn and play.
The centers are open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. You can find community center closest to you by using NYCHA’s Community Engagement & Partnerships Map here.
“Our community centers offer New Yorkers a safe space to engage and learn,” said Sideya Sherman, NYCHA’s Executive Vice President for Community Engagement and Partnerships. “Extending the centers’ operating hours during the summer furthers the City’s commitment to support and empower our youngest residents and neighbors.”
The extended hours are thanks to a collaboration between NYCHA, the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, and the Department of Youth & Community Development.
