NYCHA Releases 2025 Partnerships and Initiatives Annual Report
NYCHA has released its 2025 Partnerships and Initiatives Annual Report, showcasing a year of impactful programs designed to support residents through expanded economic mobility, financial empowerment, preventive health resources, fundraising, and coordination on NYCHA community spaces.
Housed within the Department of Resident Services, Partnerships, and Initiatives (RSPI), the Office of the Vice President of Partnerships and Initiatives oversees three program offices and one unit: the Grants Support Unit, Resident Economic Empowerment and Sustainability (REES), Resident Health Initiatives (RHI), and the Office of Public-Private Partnerships (OPPP).
Grants Support Unit: In 2025, the Grants Support Unit facilitated nearly $7 million in funding for education, workforce development, health, community services, and public safety programs benefiting NYCHA residents. A key milestone was securing funding for NYCHA’s first-ever AmeriCorps program, ensuring the continuation of the NYCHA Health Corps under NYCHA’s administration.
Resident Economic Empowerment and Sustainability (REES): REES continued to expand pathways to financial stability, supporting residents with employment and career advancement, adult education and job training, financial empowerment and asset building, and resident business development. Highlights of 2025 included celebrating the NYCHA YouthBuild inaugural cohort, expanding the Jobs-Plus Program to Coney Island residents, and marking 20 years of the NYCHA-CUNY Scholarship.
Resident Health Initiatives (RHI): RHI advanced health equity by connecting residents to preventive services, improving indoor environments, and strengthening resident leadership in health. In 2025, RHI hosted 429 residents at Healthy Start @ NYCHA baby showers and worked with NYCHA property managers and NYCHA Healthy Homes to identify and address apartment hazards. In 2025, NYCHA operations teams closed 2,394 work orders addressing repair needs in the homes of program participants. RHI also held its first NYCHA Community Mental Health Summit, bringing together 100 residents and partners, and hosted 95 Smoke-Free NYCHA educational activities.
Office of Public-Private Partnerships (OPPP): OPPP strengthens NYCHA’s collaboration with public and private partners to expand access to community facility-based services and resources and opportunities that support residents from infancy through older adulthood. In 2025, OPPP, managed 12 mural projects across 8 NYCHA developments, delivered direct resources to residents (including $971,633 of in-kind donations), distributed more than 32,000 free books to children and families through a partnership with the National Book Foundation’s Book Rich Environments, and supported 60 residents transitioning to college through Project Move-In.
