NYCHA’s Capital Projects Roundup: January
NYCHA’s Woodson Houses is now fully equipped with a new network of security cameras to help improve safety for residents and employees at the Brooklyn development.
In January, the Capital Projects Division (CPD) completed the installation of 127 new interior and exterior closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras throughout the two buildings at the senior development.
CPD oversees more than $1 billion in construction projects across the Authority’s portfolio that are funded with federal, State, and City investments. The department works to preserve and modernize public housing for NYCHA residents through professional design and construction services that are carried out efficiently and with the highest degree of safety and quality.
The new CCTV cameras for Woodson Houses – which consists of a 25-story building and a 10-story building – were placed in areas such as stairwells, roofs, and elevators. The larger building received a total of 83 cameras, while 44 cameras were installed at the second building.

As part of the project, a fiber optic network was installed to connect the cameras to a new Security Operations Center at the development’s management office, which manages camera images for security purposes.
The $858,000 security enhancement project was funded by former Mayor Bill de Blasio’s office.
Also in January, CPD completed the installation of high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) portable air filters for the Janitorial Training Center at Ingersoll Houses in Brooklyn. The approximately $172,000 project was federally funded.
