NYCHA’s “M/WBE In Action” Virtual Procurement Fair
NYCHA’s “M/WBE In Action” virtual event was hosted by the Authority’s Supply Management and Procurement Department on July 13, 2022, with over 100 City-certified Minority- and Women-owned Business Enterprises (M/WBE) firms from various industries in attendance.
“M/WBE In Action” commemorated the one-year anniversary of the launch of NYCHA’s formal M/WBE program and was the first virtual event since the program’s inception in July 2021. The program was implemented to expand contracting opportunities for M/WBEs. The virtual event focused on increasing participation in NYCHA’s M/WBE program, emphasizing the various procurement opportunities available for vendors to conduct business with NYCHA and how these opportunities can be attained. The program’s goals and accomplishments were also outlined, demonstrating NYCHA’s dedication to the equitable advancement of Minority- and Women-owned Business Enterprises. Vendors also received information about upcoming contracting projects with NYCHA’s Comprehensive Modernization program and its Capital Projects Division.
The event was well received by vendors and other attendees, several of whom gave positive feedback to NYCHA’s Vendor Diversity team. Guy Oliveri, Vice President of NYCHA’s Procurement Policy & Performance Management, is looking forward to holding future events; he stated that “NYCHA will continue its efforts to strengthen the M/WBE program and is committed to addressing historic disparities in contracting.”
