NYCHA’s Interim CEO Discusses ERAP Funding Advocacy for Public Housing Residents on NY1
On March 28, NYCHA’s Interim CEO Lisa Bova-Hiatt appeared on NY1’s “Inside City Hall” program to discuss the NYCHA community’s advocacy urging State legislators to include Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) funding for NYCHA and other public housing tenants in the State budget. New York State was the only state in the nation that de-prioritized ERAP funding for residents of subsidized housing. NYCHA submitted more than $128 million in ERAP applications for 33,000 NYCHA households with COVID-related rent arrears – and rent revenue is a critical part of NYCHA’s budget.
