Harvest Festivals at NYCHA
Another season of Harvest Festivals celebrated fall-themed activities for families at NYCHA’s Eco-Hubs.
Held on Saturdays throughout October, the free events featured pumpkin carving/decorating, games, raffles, arts and crafts, as well as a DJ, photo booth, dancing, and a variety of healthy snacks.
The festivities were held at the five Eco-Hub sites operated by NYCHA’s partner Green City Force (GCF) – which trains NYCHA youth for green jobs – at Bay View Houses, Forest Houses, Wagner Houses, Mariner’s Harbor Houses, and Howard Houses. The hubs are part of Farms at NYCHA, an urban agriculture initiative grounded in public housing resident leadership and community partnership.
Along with the fun activities, this year’s Harvest Fests distributed to the community produce that was harvested by GCF at the Eco-Hubs. The fresh produce included collards, turnips, and carrots.
