Section 8 Program Update Regarding Annual Recertifications

The New York City Housing Authority is experiencing a technical issue with its annual recertification termination process. NYCHA is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it as quickly as possible.

If you (or your Section 8 tenant) already submitted annual recertification documents to NYCHA and then received a termination notice regarding failure to recertify, please note:

  • You can disregard any termination notice for failure to recertify income dated between August 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022. NYCHA has withdrawn these termination notices related to annual recertification.
  • NYCHA has suspended all termination processes related to annual recertification until at least May 1, 2022.
  • NYCHA will continue reviewing any documents submitted and will notify you if additional information is required.
  • Please continue to respond to requests to complete your annual recertification and/or requests for additional information.
