NYC Public Libraries Forgive Fines for Kids and Teens
Are you 17 or under and have fines for overdue library books? The New York Public Library, Brooklyn Public Library, and Queens Library have teamed up for a special fine forgiveness program. As of October 19, anyone 17 and under will have their library fines cleared and blocks on their library cards lifted.
If you have late books, DVDs, or other materials you owe the libraries, bring those in as soon as possible. High school students ages 18 and over can also have their fines cleared in person through November 2, 2017.
To celebrate this special event, the libraries are hosting many special programs including free book giveaways, science workshops, homework help and more. For more info and a full schedule of events, visit nyclibraries.org/newstart.
The JPB Foundation provided funding for this one-time-only initiative. Fines will be charged for any items that are overdue after October 19, 2017.
