Healthy Start @ NYCHA Hosts Resource Fair at Rutger Houses

On Saturday, November 18, the Healthy Start @ NYCHA program hosted a Resource Fair at Rutgers Houses. The event, which was a collaboration between seven NYCHA departments, served nearly 200 families from all five boroughs.

Expecting residents and those with newborns traveled from 44 NYCHA developments to connect with 19 partners, including NYC Health Department’s New Family Home Visits Initiative, The Bronx Health Link, MetroPlusHealth, the NYC Infant Safe Sleep Initiative, and many more.

Attendees received information on resources and services available to them, as well as baby items such as diapers, clothes, books, and more.

The event also featured a raffle, and the first winner was a new dad who won a baby car seat just in time to pick up his partner and baby from the hospital.

The Healthy Start @ NYCHA program was launched in 2022 to help foster a safe home and connect expecting families to resources.

To enroll in Healthy Start, let NYCHA know your family is expecting through the Self-Service Portal
