Celebrating the New Queensbridge Jobs-Plus Location
On January 21, Urban Upbound held a ribbon-cutting to welcome Queensbridge and Ravenswood residents to their new Jobs-Plus site, which will help connect them to employment opportunities, education, financial counseling, and other supportive services close to home.
Urban Upbound is a longtime NYCHA partner and service provider for the new Jobs-Plus site, located at 10-38 41st Avenue, Queens, NY 11101. The City recently expanded the Jobs-Plus program to 13 locations serving 44 NYCHA developments, up from 10 sites serving 27 developments. Jobs-Plus works with residents 18 years and older to help them find and keep jobs, as well as prepare for interviews, create professional resumes, and gain money management skills.
The event was attended by Congressmember Carolyn Maloney, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, Urban Upbound CEO Bishop Mitchell G. Taylor, NYC Department of Social Services Commissioner Gary Jenkins, NYCHA’s Executive Vice President for Community Engagement and Partnerships Sideya Sherman, and more. Jobs-Plus is a collaborative effort led by the NYC Department of Social Services/Human Resources Administration (NYC DSS-HRA), and partners include NYCHA, the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs/Office of Financial Empowerment, the Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity, the NYC Office of Workforce Development, the NYC Department of Small Business Services, and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
