Now Recruiting: Emergency Snow Shovelers
Hoping to earn some extra money this winter? Become a temporary Emergency Snow Shoveler with the NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) to help keep New Yorkers safe after winter storms.
Emergency Snow Shovelers are called on after heavy snowfalls to remove snow and ice from public areas citywide, including bus stops, crosswalks, fire hydrants, and step streets.
DSNY is now recruiting temporary, per diem (by day) shovelers as needed. Pay starts at $30 per hour and increases to $45 per hour after the first 40 hours worked in a week.
To apply, sign up to attend a DSNY recruitment event held at locations across the city throughout November. Walk-in registrations are also accepted four days a week (Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) at the new Jobs NYC Center at 2 Lafayette Street in Manhattan.
Applicants who complete their registration prior to November 30 will be eligible for a paid four-hour orientation in December, as well as fast-tracked processing to receive a paycheck within two weeks of working.
