Section 8 Participant Process Adjustments

Dear Section 8 property owners and participants,

As NYCHA continues to work closely with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to inform you of new measures the Authority is taking:

  • Suspension of all termination actions while the City is under a state of emergency, for at least 60 days. This includes termination action related to annual recertification, inspection, and fraud.
  • The effective date for annual and interim recertifications that result in an increase to the tenant rent share will be May 1, 2020 or later. This will prevent an immediate increase to households during this time period.

As a reminder, please note the following:

  • The Owner Extranet and Self-Service Portal will remain available for online submission of requests, submission of documents, and status updates.
  • We are taking these important steps to keep our communities safe. We encourage Section 8 property owners to do the same by disinfecting high frequency and shared areas. If you have not already done so, property owners should modify their routine maintenance procedures to address these areas more frequently.
