Touring the Apartment of the Future
On September 25, during Climate Week, The New York Climate Exchange hosted a tour of the Apartment of the Future Education Center — the model unit showcasing new sustainable technologies for public housing — as part of The Exchange’s inaugural Climate Leaders Exchange. The visit to the model unit at the Brooklyn Navy Yard brought together climate, housing, and finance directors from 12 cities (Atlanta, Boston, Cleveland, Columbus, Denver, Madison, New York, Philadelphia, Portland, Raleigh, San Francisco, and Seattle) for a program entitled “Building Forward: Cities Advancing Energy-Efficient Homes.” Speakers and participants included The Exchange’s Director of Urban Engagement Victoria Cerullo, NYCHA’s Vice President of Sustainability Siobhan Watson, Public Housing Preservation Trust President Vlada Kenniff, Public Housing Community Fund Executive Director Alex Zablocki, Delivery Associates, the Natural Resources Defense Council, Stony Brook University, Pratt Institute, Pace University, and Duke University.
