All New York City families with children born in 2024 can apply to 2-K for fall 2026.
Important Dates:
- Tuesday, June 2, 2026
2-K applications open - Friday, June 26, 2026
2-K applications close - Tuesday, August 4, 2026
2-K result release
For fall 2026, 2-K will be available in school districts 6, 10, 18, 23, and 27, and students
living in these districts will receive priority. Find your district: SchoolSearch.schools.nyc
Families with a child turning 2 in 2026 can apply online at MySchools.nyc, by calling 718-935-2009, or by visiting a Family Welcome Center.
Please note: 2-K is still expanding, and not all applicants will receive an offer.

- Program Types:
- Expanded Day and Full Year: 10 hours a day, year-round
- School Day: 6 hrs. 20 min. a day, September – June
- Settings:
- Family Child Care (FCC): home-based 2-K programs with a licensed provider
- NYC Early Education Centers (NYCEEC): community-based programs that partner with NYC Public Schools

▶ Each offer includes a start date.
- NYCEECs require children to be 2 years old to begin on the first day of school (children who turn 2 later may start on their second birthday
- FCCs can enroll any child born in 2024 on the first day of school
