Eastchester Gardens Celebrates First Anniversary of PACT

On June 6, the Eastchester Gardens community marked the first anniversary since the historic Bronx development officially entered NYCHA’s Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) program

The second annual “Spring Thing” event was hosted by the PACT partner team of MDG Design + Construction, Wavecrest Management, and Infinite Horizons, along with the Eastchester Gardens Resident Association, to celebrate the ongoing transformation of the campus.

At one of the development’s newly renovated playgrounds, community members gathered for an afternoon of food, fun, and connection. Neighbors enjoyed catered meals and giveaways, including custom Eastchester Gardens-branded T-shirts, as well as a balloon artist and face painting for the youngest residents.

The joyous event highlighted recent and anticipated improvements thanks to the $391 million PACT project at Eastchester Gardens, one of the oldest public housing developments in the city and the second oldest in the Bronx. Over the past year, the campus welcomed the renovation of three buildings, a variety of landscaping upgrades, beautification improvements, strong work order performance, and the launch of onsite social services for residents through BronxWorks.

The existing playgrounds were also redesigned with modern play equipment as well as new seating and landscaping based on input from Eastchester Gardens youth.
